01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

While the quintessential combination at neighbourhood Chinese diners is ramen paired with half-portion fried rice, many visitors make their way to Chinka in Hon-Komagome specifically for the half-dry curry and ramen set. Cooked in the manner of fried rice, the dry curry carries a fragrant, nicely judged level of spice that balances naturally against the mild soy-sauce broth of the ramen. Alternating between slurps of traditional chuka soba—garnished with chashu pork, bamboo shoots, and narutomaki fish cake—and bites of seasoned rice turns an ordinary midday meal into something genuinely satisfying.

Of course, there is no shortage of other rice pairings, from the classic half-fried rice with ramen, featuring moist fried rice studded with green peas, to the nostalgic half-chicken rice and ramen combo. Among the noodle options, swan ramen (hot and sour noodle soup) stands out: its vivid red broth brings together refreshing acidity with the heat of pepper and chilli, finished with bok choy, garlic chives, and tender slices of braised pork carrying a gentle touch of star anise—an inventive dish sure to appeal to diners who enjoy fiery flavours.

Beyond noodles, the menu features an extensive lineup of stir-fries and set meals served with rice, pickles, and miso soup, such as ginger pork sets, liver and garlic chive sets, twice-cooked pork, and mapo tofu. Guests can dine comfortably at tables during both lunch and dinner, with beer and Shaoxing wine on hand to accompany the food. Please note that payments are cash only.
